The Kilimanjaro massif, mythical peak in Africa, dominates by 5 000 meters the surrounding plains. This huge volcano with a very characteristic shape is made up of three different craters.
Shira to the west, Mawenzi to the east and Kibo in the middle. The Uhuru Peak summit, the final goal of the climb, culminates at 5 895 meters of altitude. This isolated volcano extends along 60 km from east to west and along 40 km from north to south.
