The region of Natron Lake extends from the West borders of the Serengeti and of NCA (Ngorongoro Conservation Area) and encompasses the entire lake.
This lake which is only a vast area of salt mud during dry season, extends over hundreds of square kilometers. It is the largest salt lake in the region.
With its salt deposits of several colors, it offers extraordinary and completely different landscapes from those found elsewhere in Tanzania.
The Natron Lake welcomes millions of flamingos, which find there both convenient food and nesting conditions to protect their young from predators.
An important Maasai population has established itself in this inhospitable region. Visit of villages, the presence of salt caravans coming to obtain supplies from the lake's deposits... Large herds guarded by these warriors, symbols of Africa.
