Located in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, only 50 m from the crater northern gate (Seneto) and just an hour away from Serengeti NP (Naabi gate), Olduvai Camp is a "must stay at" camp in the northern circuit.
17 tents are available at camp, all built around a huge "Kopje" (massive granite rock). All tents are spacious, tastefully decorated, en-suite.
From the tents, our guests can admire the endless Serengeti plains.
Main areas feature mess tent, main bar as well as additional bar/lounge built in the rock.
A star gazing deck is also available.
Apart from game viewing and its highly strategic location (halfway between Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti NP), our guests can also enjoy some fantastic trekking from camp: from the easy sunset walk to the half day walk through the gorge or even full day hikes of Mt Makarot, there is so much to do in this area, where ancient men once roamed.

Olduvai Camp Awards
January 11th, 2012, magazine HOTEL and LODGE, handed its AWARDS for the 6th consecutive year, during a big ceremony at Park Hyatt in the place Vendôme in Paris in front of an assembly of more than 450 professionals of tourism and the hotel business.
Among 6 prices awarded, the price of the BEST LODGE was attributed to the camp of Olduvai in Tanzania.
This prestigious award underlines, of course, the architectural success, the quality of the service, the grand frame of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, but also the consideration of sustainable development (100 % CO ² free, management of the water, the promotion of the Tanzanian staff, the implication of the local populations & communities) of the Olduvai camp.
